🎉 Honoring:
✊🏽 Zerita Jones- Housing Justice Champion

Zerita Jones is a longtime community organizer and tenant rights advocate who has dedicated decades to protecting residents and fighting displacement in Los Angeles. A lifelong Angeleno and longtime Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw resident, she co-founded the local chapter of the Los Angeles Tenants Union and regularly leads renters' rights workshops.

As a resident of Chesapeake Apartments, Zerita organized a tenants' association that successfully fought efforts to displace hundreds of residents. Her advocacy extends across numerous housing justice organizations and coalitions, including the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE) and the Right to Counsel Coalition. Through grassroots organizing and coalition-building, she continues to empower tenants and strengthen communities.

✊🏽 Capri Maddox- Equity Justice Champion

Capri Maddox serves as the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department, where she leads efforts to address systemic racism, discrimination, and inequities across Los Angeles. Appointed as the department's first Executive Director in 2020, she has championed civil rights, equity, and opportunities for underserved communities.

Her distinguished career in public service includes leadership roles with the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, Los Angeles Unified School District, and Board of Public Works. Throughout her career, she has worked to advance equity, strengthen communities, and expand access to resources and opportunities for Angelenos.
